Rudy Ruettiger’s wife Cheryl Ruettiger lives in the city of Henderson, Nevada. She co-founded the Rudy Foundation with her husband and acts as the Executive Director. The actual mission statement of the organization is big and lofty. It talks about how it’s goals are to fulfill people’s dreams through “character, courage, contribution, and commitment”. I’ve become completely numbed and deadened to the ultra-ambiguousness of Foundation mission statements. So for me it’s par for the course to hear that’s what how the Rudy Foundation describes itself. The Foundation is a boon to a lot of young people, and one of Cheryl’s jobs has been giving out scholarships to students.
She’s big on the promotional aspect of the Foundation. Rudy Ruettiger’s wife Cheryl has stated that one of her dreams has been to create a theater for high school students in the Las Vegas area as a performance center for the community. She gave an interview to a local newspaper about how she organized a theater competition for kids to be able to earn scholarship money for performance arts.
Rudy and Cheryl have two kids named Danny and Jessica. Part of the reason why Rudy Ruettiger’s wife Cheryl like performance arts so much is because Jessica is so into them. Cheryl herself has admitted that she’s only a singer in the car when it comes to performance. However, she has produced a short film (seemingly for the Rudy Foundation. It’s all about fulfilling one’s dreams no matter how long the odds. She’s a super cheery person, but I can’t help but think her entire life is based on the platform that the Disney movie gave the couple back in the 1990’s.
That’s cool, though- the message is really helpful and positive to kids: follow your dreams no matter what! In an interview, she talks constantly about dreams. Her favorite quote is: “let the rhythm of your heartbeat drive you toward your dreams”. I have no idea what that means. But, it sounds nice so I guess we can assume it’s helpful.
