Finding a wife had to be a challenging prospect for Yao Ming. As a 6’5″ man, I know the struggles that my 5’0″ wife deals with, and can only imagine the challenge that someone 13″ taller than me would contend with. Fortunately, the 7’6″ Yao was able to find a tall girl, even if she still is 16 inches shorter than him. Yao Ming’s wife Ye Li stands at a less-than-diminutive 6’2″ tall. Her size clearly helped her in professional endeavors, as she was once the starting center for the Chiinese National basketball team.
Yao Ming married Ye Li on August 6, 2007 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai China. The ceremony was attended by approximately 70 friends and family, while throngs of media were kept closed outside. They have one daughter together, Amy, born May 21, 2010. Amy will be a U.S. citizen, as she was born in Houston.
