Brian Cushing’s wife Megan Cushing is the sister who doesn’t play professional sports. Megan Cushing’s sister is Kealia Ohai, the 2nd overall draft pick for a new pro soccer team called the Houston Dash. Just a little while ago, Megan had been joking with Kealia that they should start a soccer team in Houston. Now they’ve got their wish, and the team is the worst in the league.
Brian’s wife is pregnant with a second child right now, very pregnant. One of her latest posts on Twitter was a picture of herself and her watermelon baby belly. Brian himself is a beast, completing a nice 30 bench reps at his pre-draft measurables. Megan has been fully supportive of him, and now she’s fully supportive of her sister. Kealia was actually the scorer of the game-winning goal at the 2012 U-20 Women’s World Cup Final (whatever that is). I’m not fully convinced that professional women’s soccer will have enough of an audience to actually stay afloat– nothing personal, ladies. American men’s soccer, the MLS, is in a fragile enough state as it is. I suppose it’s viable as long as it manages to make a little bit of money.
For Megan, being the wife of Brian Cushing has its perks. A quick search reveals Brian’s salary is a six-year deal for $52 million. That includes a $9 million signing bonus. That means buying swanky 5400 square-foot mansions in Houston for a cool $2.2 million. Their house includes four bedrooms and five half-bathrooms. They’ve also got the full home theater setup– standard practice for any professional athlete in the 21st Century. Brian is your classic big, scary jock. I wonder what Megan thought of the psychotic pictures of him with a bleeding face and forehead looking like he wanted to murder an opponent. Hey, whatever drives the point home that his $52 million is well-earned.
