I’m actually not certain whether Indian marriages include the last name change, so for the sake of transparency we’ll justrefer to Anirban Lahiri’s wife Ipsa Jamwal Lahiri by both her maiden name and new last name. The young lady was looking pretty snazzy in her traditional wedding clothes, and the couple celebrated their nuptials in June of 2014 by heading off to a honeymoon in Madasgascar. The problem for Ipsa was Anirban had to cut the vacation short because he got invited to play in the The Open, held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Holyake. Of course, this is exactly the kind of problem you want to run into if you’re a pro golfer. Anirban said his wife was understanding because of his profession. We’ve said it before and it really is true– get married to a professional athlete and get ready not to see them most of the time.
Anirban Lahiri’s wife resides in Bangalore, India, and this is one of the perks of being married to a golfer rather than professional team player– you don’t have to relocate to a home base at any point. You can live on the moon if you want. She is a former assistant manager of marketing communications at a company called Wipro. Apparently Wipro is a technology-based consulting company that helps businesses through technology somehow. Company descriptions often say very much without really saying anything (maybe Ipsa should have stuck around to remedy that).
Anirban has said in a brief interview that his wife Ipsa has done a fantastic job supporting him and keeping him mentally free when he leaves the course. I can understand why that would be very helpful for any pro. It’s almost like having a coach to give you pep talks and encouragement and to listen to your verbalize any issues you’re having with your game. Just try and schedule your vacations properly, Anirban.
