Bob Costas’ wife Jill Costas is from the old Texas town of El Paso, and she was recently involved in the rehabilitation attempts (if you can call them that) at trying to help Bob recover from his viral eye infections that took him out of the game at the Sochi Olympics. I noticed he wasn’t doing so hot throughout his work at Sochi, and then I guess he just threw in the towel. Come on, Bob, throw on some eye patches and let it ride!
Costas’ wife Jill bought a mansion with him in Newport Coast, California last year. It was publicized a little in the Los Angeles Times and cost them $4.7 million. It’s a real palace. It’s got this amazing pool and landscaping in the middle courtyard. Trust me, it’s classy. Anyhow, Jill is Bob’s second wife, and they were married in March of 2004, which means they’ve been together for almost 11 years now. If I were a betting man, I would say the odds of Bob and Jill having kids are zero since Bob already has two kids aged 26 and 28 from his prior marriage. They were born sometime after he married their mother in 1983.
Jill generally attends the big sporting events that Bob covers. This certainly includes the Olympics, as Bob is away for weeks covering them, and it may or may not include the Super Bowl this year. It’s her prerogative which event she’d like to attend and which she’d like to sit out. Sounds like a killer deal to me. It’s more extensive since Bob does a wider range of sports coverage. His schedule is a little less hectic than a pro athlete but not by much. Jill has plenty of hobbies to busy herself with, though, and hanging out at a television studio or at a game isn’t always her first choice.
