Heidi Watney’s husband Mike Wickham is one of the luckiest former executives in baseball. He gets to live with an absolutely stunning baseball reporter for the MLB Network who married him on New Year’s Night: December 31, 2014 in Edgewater, New Jersey. When you think of beautiful smiling blonde women, she’s sort of like an archetype. She looks a lot like Rebecca Romijn, actually. Naturally, executives at MLB Network would be drawn to hiring a woman with this kind of beauty, but there’s more to Heidi than just good looks, as it turns out. She’s done some charity events in Boston with the David Ortiz Children’s Fund to help out kids get pediatric care, for example. Watney has a big heart when it comes to helping people out.
But who better to help out than Mike Wickham? He’s living the dream– professional baseball scout and former director of operations for the Marlins, husband of the hottest baseball reporter in the business– come on now. Heidi Watney’s husband also knows Sam Ryan (a fellow MLB Network lady and super-energetic reporter) because Heidi is good friends with her. As I’ve said before, the ladies on MLB Network are workaholics and get tons of information out there. Heidi herself tweets more baseball information than most baseball analysts are able to even talk about. Heidi also reps a special brand of baseball t-shirts and clothes that she likes to show off in her tweets (not a bad side-gig). She does the modeling thing every once in awhile with various brands, and that includes jewelry as well. If you’re as stylish and cool as Heidi, you can pull of t-shirts or red-carpet attire with the same grace, and that was true for her when she attended the Screen Actors Guild Awards this year and hung out with Uzo Aduba from Orange Is The New Black.
For a honeymoon, Heidi Watney’s husband Mike Wickham treated her to the wonderful world of Bora Bora, which is the number one exotic location for pretty much anyone with a good bank account. I used to call this place the top sports vacation getaway, but that title must now extend to other moneyed fields as well. The couple’s vacation lasted a total of ten days, and if that’s not the ideal honeymoon I don’t know what is. Ironically, this came less than two months after another vacation with Mike and their families to Nevis Island in the Caribbean. It’s another very exclusive island with only about 12,000 people living on it. A month before that trip, Heidi and Mike got stranded in the Kansas City Airport after their plane failed. That’s not very good publicity for a burgeoning place like Kansas City.
