Austin Riley’s wife Anna Riley met him in high school, but it wasn’t until college till their relationship kicked off.
High School Sweetheart?
Not quite. It’s a weirdly common trend in sports. People knew each other in high school, but didn’t get together till later in life. After high school, they both went to college at MIssissippi State. After their freshman year, Austin took Anna as a date to his sister’s wedding and the rest is history. Surviving that long through the minors and to the show is a challenge. But, these two and their relationship isn’t just surviving,… it’s thriving.
Austin Riley’s wife is a regular feature of his social media. The dude loves his wife,…. it’s equal parts surprising to see this much affection publicly, and refreshing. The couple married on November 3, 2018 and have been touting each other online ever since.
Now, while I will say I’m not in any way judging their wedding, I will say I’m confounded by one small but giant detail. I cannot fathom how in the holy hell they coordinated a wedding party of twenty people. TWENTY. That seems exhausting. Both in having twenty people on the altar with you, but also in having that many friends in life. Maybe we’re getting to the core of my question. I just don’t have that many friends. Ingratiating themselves to the Atlanta community
It’s a logical progression to begin to immerse yourself in the community you play for. Austin Riley, and Austin Riley’s wife are both taking that step as well. While Anna is still just a woman in her mid-twenties, but in her social media profile is a link to a Braves Wives fundraiser. In an era where some player’s wives use their husbands notoriety to promote their own endeavors, Anna is using hers to help others. It’s an awesome change of pace, and one that goes a long way to continue to develop a bond to the community you are establishing roots. Moving from Mississippi to Atlanta isn’t a huge cultural leap, but taking those steps to engage is desperately needed and respected. Props to Austin and Anna Riley.
