Luke Hochevar’s wife Ashley Hochevar married the fella’ on January 20 of 2007 at a church in Tennessee. Ashley set up the wedding to be held in her home town of Paris, Tennessee, and the local paper gave one of the most detailed accounts of the wedding that I have ever seen. I don’t know if its customary for local paper to do that or if it was requested or what, but the paper literally has every single thing down to what kind of boutonniere the groom was wearing. It just goes on and on and talks about the songs that were played and what each meal course was. In case you were wondering, the entree was pork tenderloin.
The couple have since had two children named Lacey and Lucy. The last one was born in August of 2013, and Luke took a three-day paternity leave to be with them. Luke Hochevar’s wife and kids joined him this year and every year in Surprise, Arizona for spring training, and Ashley was even interviewed by the local Fox news team about it. She said the Gordons are their best friends on the team, and their kids are the same age as theirs so they all hang out. Back in 2009, the couple also added another addition to their family: a St. Bernard puppy. So that dog’s grown and is six years old now, and I’m sure they’ve got a big open space for him to run around with the kids. The St. Bernie is very cute and her name is Gracie. She was featured in a pet adoption video the Hochevars put up on YouTube back in 2011, and the message was basically “go to a shelter and adopt a pet,” though I really doubt they got Gracie the puppie at a shelter. It’s a good message though.
Back when Luke Hochevar’s wife Ashley had their second kid in 2013, Luke was throwing a 1.93 ERA over 44 appearances. I just thought that was an impressive line to add in since the birth of a child can be a stressful thing for some people and may lead to either increased or decreased performance. For Mr. Hochevar, clearly there were no problems. We’re talking about professional ballplayers so they’re ready for life changes (especially after they’ve already been through one birth). So Ashley’s main job is raising Lacey and Lucy while for Luke it’s just making sure the batters don’t get hits and runs. Livin’ the dream.
