Andre Ethier’s wife Maggie Germaine Ethier was a 4 year All American gymnast at ASU. She later went on to help coach the school’s team on a volunteer basis.
Right here is where I would normally interject a wiseass comment about how awesome the sex must be. However, Andre Ethier’s wife is Mormon, as evidenced by the fact that the ASU football coach tried to use her to help recruit another super Mormon Ben Olson. Andre is Catholic, and has recorded a segment for Catholic Athletes for Christ. I have a feeling that they have super guilty, super boring sex. (It’s a joke people. I’m sure religious folk have lots of crazy sex. Sure of it.)
The two met for the first time at an orientation seminar for Arizona State University athletes a week before school began in August, 2000. They became close when each of their respective roommates entered into a long term relationship. The two dated on and off during school, then broke up for an extended period of time after Maggie graduated while Andre was in the minors. They ultimately came back together and were married in February, 2006.
It will be interesting to find out where Andre lands next season. With 4 outfielders already in Los Angeles and Joc Pederson ready for the bright lights of Hollywood, Ethier is likely the odd man out. Hopefully Maggie Ethier is willing to travel.
