Joe and Lisa Nathan have two children together, son Cole born in 2004, and daughter Riley, born in 2007.
During the birth of their daughter, Riley, Joe went to the hospital to be with his wife in his uniform, ready to bolt should the Twins have needed him to run in and close out the game. Riley was born during the 6th inning, giving Joe plenty of time to head back to the Metrodome to hand out cigars to his teammates. In Joe’s defense, he claims, “My wife kicked me out and told me I had to go to the game. That part is true.”
