Allen Iverson’s wife Tawanna Turner divorced him in 2013 after twelve years of marriage. She also gave birth to their five children. In an interview with Colin Cowherd Allen said he loves to spend time with his children. Professional basketball is over for him so he has more time to spend with them. That’s a big deal. It’s difficult for players with children who must constantly be on the road and competing. They value their time with the kids. Now, let’s talk a bit about his incredibly complicated and tempestuous relationship with Tawanna…
I won’t be able to talk about every single conflict because there’s too many. However, I should mention Allen Iverson’s ex-wife appears with him in public and might even still be involved in a real relationship capacity. Many posts and articles talk about this, and The Daily Mail recently covered it. They mentioned how he kicked her out of their home in 2002. She wasn’t wearing clothes at the time. It’s a big detail since it helps to wear clothes after a house boot! Apparently after he kicked her out, he “barged into her relatives’ home with a gun to get her back”. That’s what The Daily Mail said, anyway.
At Allen’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame, he called her the most important person in his life. He also said he looked forward to spend two more decades with her. Since they first got together in high school, the comment makes a bit more sense. Otherwise you might think it’s just a random number of decades to cite. So apparently Allen Iverson’s ex-wife now gets along with him. The fact they have the children together must influence their relationship a lot. In the divorce proceeding back in 2013, Iverson shouted one of my favorite divorce lines ever. Tawanna asked for more money from him, and he shouted “I don’t even have money to buy a cheeseburger” at her. Hey, it’s good to have money for cheeseburgers.
