Cris Carter’s wife Melanie Carter was involved in what can only be called a “violent tennis match” this year. TMZ reported on this one back in April, but apparently she was playing a double match in Boca Raton. The fight had nothing to do with the other players. It was between Melanie and the woman who was the line judge. The line judge made a call that Melanie disputed, and they got into an argument. The line judge then began swearing at Melanie, at which point Melanie told her to “mind her own business.” I’m not sure what that means, given the context. I mean, if I’m a judge and I start swearing at you, and you say to mind my own business– aren’t I currently in the business of swearing at you? So Melanie’s comeback proved ineffective. The line judge got down from the podium or whatever the line judge sits on, and got in Melanie’s face. Then Melanie contends that the line judge headbutted her! Consequently, Melanie punched the lady in the face, and the two went to the ground to grapple. The cops were called, and they couldn’t determine who attacked first because the line judge said Melanie swung first.
So now you know: Cris Carter’s wife Melanie Carter is the John McEnroe of sports wives. We’re only kidding, Melanie, but we have to admit that your tennis scuffle was somewhat entertaining. Surely you can understand this. It’s happened to the best of them– I recently watched a video on YouTube of an irate Serena Williams cussing out a tiny lady line judge, and good lord is she intimidating. The point is that these things happen in heated contests of racket swinging.
As was previously reported, Cris Carter told Michael Irvin’s wife Sandy Irvin that she should leave him if she wanted him to recover from drug addiction a long time ago. Michael and Cris are friends, but that incident always stuck with Michael.
