It’s a sad passing seeing Dennis Green go. It seems like he was on the Vikings sidelines forever, but his stint as Arizona Cardinals head coach was more of an afterthought in my mind. Dennis Green’s wife Marie Green met him long before he became a Cardinals coach. Back in the early 90’s Dennis was flying with the Vikings on a charter flight. Marie asked if she could score some tickets to a game, and Green responded by saying he’d have to take her out to lunch! That’s a solid move, for sure.
The couple married in 1995, and had two kids named Vanessa and Zach. Dennis Green’s wife Marie started an image consulting business in the mid 2000’s and owned her own website to support it. The writing work she did was for local papers in the San Diego area where their family settled after the NFL days. Marie authored a very well respected fashion column for multiple papers with a fairly substantial circulation.
Before the fashion column, Dennis Green’s wife Marie had a marketing and public relations company that started in 1997. It had to do with creating marketing strategies for small companies and brands, and she apparently worked closely with charities and foundations. One such organization was the Special Olympics. Marie’s brother is handicapped and has competed in the Special Olympics, so they hold a place in her heart. Back when Dennis was first going out with Marie, she asked him to appear at there as a guest. He did so happily.
Grown up now are Dennis and Marie Green’s children. A basketball recruiter described Zach as being having exceptional athleticism.
It’s a shame Dennis couldn’t stick around longer because he has plenty left to see. He will be missed, but not only by his amazing family – by football fans everywhere.
Dennis Green was 67 years old.
