Troy Vincent’s wife Tommi Vincent is the proud mother of two sons who both play football and will both probably play for college. One of those sons already has major offers from a bunch of big name schools, and the other one is a big fella’ in 7th grade headed the same direction. So when she was asked recently if she was concerned for the health and well-being of her kids playing football, she said not at all.
She offers a refreshing outlook on the game, though I doubt many mothers would share it. The biggest drawback to having serious football players in the family seems to be the danger of prolonged and sustained impacts to the head. Those mothers and wives who have followed the lawsuit filed by some 5000 former players against the NFL are very aware of how dangerous playing in the league can be, and I think this informs their worries. In an article in NJ.com, Troy Vincent’s wife Tommi Vincent says she’s not concerned, though:
“You have to realize (injuries) are part of playing the game,” Tommi says. “You have to take the bad with the good. I never watched Troy play and thought about him getting hurt. You knew the possibility was there, but I didn’t think about it. I just watched him play, wanted him to do well and for his team to win.”
On another topic, Troy Vincent’s wife Tommi Vincent used to be the co-owner of a massage spa in New Jersey, but they had an incident where an employee of the spa sexually assaulted a woman while giving her a massage. The woman was instructed to strip naked for the massage, and when she said she wouldn’t, the masseur apparently tore off her underwear and forced her hand to his package! She screamed and ran out of the room with a sheet wrapped around her. That is definitely not good for business. The guy had apparently been charged with similar sexual assault stuff before, but Troy and Tommi forgot to check on his background. Oops!
