The Chicago Blackhawks steamrolled the rest of the league on their way to the #1 seed in the Western Conference (and best record in the NHL). As the playoffs have begun and competition steps up, a huge part of their success will fall to right winger Marian Hossa. The normally reliable Hossa was limited to just 40 games this season, admittedly in a lockout shortened year.
Hossa has developed a huge fan base after coming to Chicago for the 2009-2010 season. Also coming to Chicago was Marian Hossa’s wife Jana Hossa. Jana Hossa (formerly Jana Ferova) was Marian’s longtime girlfriend when the couple first arrived and were married in the summer of 2010. The couple has one child, daughter Mia, born in September, 2011 in their home country of Slovakia. Mia was born just two days after a plane crash involving a Russian hockey team which resulted in the loss of a number of Hossa’s former teammated including close friend, and former NHL player Pavol Demitra. Hossa struggled through early 2011 while dealing with the loss of Demitra, while his wife and new daughter stayed home in Slovakia. The family did reunite a couple months later when all returned to Chicago for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season.
