Ryan O’Reilly’s wife Dayna O’Reilly got a baptism by fire when it comes to being a hockey wife. Of course, the life of a hockey wife or girlfriend is rough. Injuries, travel, long seasons, and of course the dread of the unforeseen trade. But, while it happens often, you’d think that players may get a respite when they get married. Right?
NOPE.
Clearly not, folks. Because Ryan O’Reilly’s wife learned the hard way when he was traded from Buffalo to St. Louis the day after the couple finally tied the knot. Now certainly, she’d been in the picture for a while before achieving “wife” status, but there’s certainly some formality to it. The couple married on the eve of free agency. And by the end of free agency’s opening day, they had to plan their newlywed life, in a new city. How bout that!

And, Ryan made it to the hospital with just hours to spare. There’s some more of that WAG stress we talked about earlier. In December, 2017, Ryan flew home from Carolina to be with Dayna (nee Douros), his then fiancee. He made it to the hospital just before the birth, something he clearly cherishes forever. From Buffalo News:
“There’s nothing like it,” O’Reilly said Wednesday, four days after welcoming Jameson Keane O’Reilly to the world. “Seeing him born, I was bawling my eyes out watching this little person come to life and just seeing a little piece of us.
“You can’t explain it. It’s one of the most incredible feelings there is.”
……
“I’ve got to give credit to Dayna,” the center said. “She’s one of the toughest people I know for her to be able to do that. I don’t think I can complain about a thing ever again.”
Dayna certainly is a tough woman,… and I bet has killer core strength
Dayna is a Yoga instructor, earning her certificate from the Samadhi Center in Denver, CO. She at one point ran an Instagram account dedicated to Yoga, but has since removed it. Dayna and Ryan both seem to live most of their life off social media, making it a little tough to cobble together their status. Some sources indicate they met and began dating as teenagers, which certainly lines up time-wise. Ryan made his debut with the Avalance as an 18 year old in 2009, while Dayna was living and studying Yoga in Denver. Fast forward to today, and the couple remains togethter, adding one more body to the mix!
