Robin Lehner’s wife Donya Lehner is well represented on his social media. But, considering the roller coaster she’s been through, she clearly deserves it.
Robin Lehner’s wife is the epitome of a rock in a relationship.
And for once, we mean that in a good way.
During the 2018 offseason, Robin sought help for drug and alcohol addiciton. With two young kids at home, and a lot of uncertainty in the life of an NHL backup goalie, no one really knew what the future held. But, Robin Lehner’s wife, Donya stayed steady and committed to the cause. And while getting sober, and learning what living a sober life means bears even more uncertainty than being a backup goalie, Donya stayed focused on the only issue that really mattered. Robin getting better. In an article with ESPN that outlines Robin’s candid openness about mental health, Donya explained her thought process.
Lehner was initially scheduled to remain at The Meadows for six weeks. He chose to stay for nearly three months. “I think he was scared to go back to the real world,” Lehner’s wife, Donya, said. “He also had more work to do on himself.”
The Meadows had a gym, but Lehner had little desire — let alone the energy — to work out. After detox came therapy. Lehner attended group therapy sessions in the morning and individual sessions in the afternoon. At night he could choose between Alcoholics Anonymous meetings or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. He alternated between both. As his doctors got to know Lehner better — and he told them about how he had self-medicated and had thoughts of suicide — they realized his issues went beyond addiction.
Lehner was diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder, as well as ADHD and post-traumatic stress that resulted from childhood trauma. Donya was back home in Sweden with their children — Lennox, a toddler, and Zoe, an infant — when her husband called with the news of his diagnosis. “It wasn’t scary as much as … a relief,” Donya said. “It just made so much sense and it explained why he was the way he had been.”
Robin Lehner’s wife: mother of his kids
As the ESPN article mentions, Robin and Donya have two kids. Their son, named Lennox was born in 2014. In 2017, Robin Lehner’s wife Donya gave birth to their daughter Zoe. There’s not a ton known about Donya Lehner. Her social media has infrequent posts, but does mention when she got banged up pretty good for her 29th birthday.

As we researched this article, we did come across one nugget. Now, admittedly it has absolutely nothing to do with Robin Lehner’s wife Donya, but we couldn’t resist. Robin is apparently a huge fan of melodic death metal. What in the holy hell is melodic death metal? Robin is apparently such a fan that his favorite band, In Flames, helped inspire his mask. Whatever the inspiration is, it clearly works. Let’s see if melodic death metal brings home the only metal that matters in the NHL. Lord Stanley’s Cup.
That’s right. I made that joke. Deal with it.
