Nicklas Backstrom’s girlfriend Liza Berg is the mother of their two children, Haley and Vince. Liza gave birth to them in 2013 and 2016, respectively. They did not marry and prefer it this way. Apparently she showed up in an episode of the EPIX show 24/7 Road to the NHL Winter Classic. The clips lasted only a few seconds. I think I watched the wrong year since the Capitals showed up in multiple years of that show. I watched gifs of the clip where Liza visited Nick with the kids while he practiced since it gives a boost of good vibes. She always looks so angelic in every photo and gif she is in.
To me, Nicklas Backstrom’s girlfriend looks a lot like Nikki Taylor. She clearly could have modeled professionally since she is so striking. When Liza gave birth to their second child, Russian Machine Never Breaks interviewed him and asked about his involvement in the birth. He said he held Liza’s hand and even her legs. That’s some intense birth involvement. I myself have no experience in child birth, but that sounds fairly hands on! Good for him, I guess.
Liza shows up at big hockey games and events. There are a few photographs out there of her, almost always with one of the kids in her arms. Since both Liza and Nick are Swedish, some of the press coverage comes from Swedish sources. Nicklas Backstrom’s girlfriend always appears with a smile in every photo taken in public. In January of 2017, a Swedish paper called Expressen captured the couple kissing on the ice. The event itself celebrated his 500 goals over the course of his long career. He certainly did a lot for the Capital organization and he’s still got plenty of years left. Nick’s father played professional hockey in Sweden and also attended the special celebration.
